Temporary residency

Temporary visas refer to all visas that have a limited time of validity. In general, the screening for entry on a temporary visa is much less thorough than the screening for a permanent visa: the health checks are less thorough, a Police Clearance certificate is not required and your ability to earn a living is not assessed. All permanent visas include the right to work and seek employment in Australia, but not all Australian temporary visas do - so understand the rules of each type of temporary visa carefully before applying.
